Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 July 2026
KeepWatching ("the app", "we", "us") is a mobile app that lets you track the TV shows and movies you watch, rate them, keep a watchlist, and follow other users. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who it is shared with, and the rights you have over it.
The app is operated by an independent developer. For any privacy question or request, contact support@keepwatch.ing.
1. Data we collect
We collect only the data needed to run the app's features.
Account data
- Email address — used to create and secure your account and to sign you in.
- Username and display name — identify you in the app.
- Profile photo (avatar) and optional bio — if you choose to add them.
Activity data you create in the app
- Watch history and episode/movie progress (what you mark as watched).
- Library and watchlist status (watching, watchlist, completed, on hold, dropped).
- Ratings you give to shows, movies, and episodes.
- Custom lists you create, and whether you mark them public.
- Social connections — who you follow and who follows you — and likes on activity.
- Data you optionally import from a TV Time export file.
Technical data
- Crash and error reports — if enabled, collected via Sentry to help us fix bugs. This is limited to diagnostic information; we do not attach your identity or IP address to these reports.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or microphone audio. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs. We do not sell your personal data.
2. What is visible to other users
KeepWatching has a social layer. The following are visible to other users:
- Your username, display name, and avatar.
- Your follower / following lists.
- Lists you explicitly mark as public.
- Your watch activity and ratings, shown in the activity feed to people who follow you.
Your email address and any lists kept private are never shown to other users.
3. How your data is used
- To provide core features (tracking, ratings, watchlist, lists, social feed).
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To diagnose crashes and improve stability (crash reports only).
4. Third-party services
We use the following service providers. They process data on our behalf to operate the app.
| Service | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Backend: authentication, database, file storage | Account data, activity data, avatar images |
| Sentry (optional) | Crash and error reporting | Diagnostic/crash data, no user identity or IP |
| TMDB (The Movie Database) | Show/movie metadata and images | Search terms and title IDs only — no personal data |
| TVmaze | TV series/episode metadata | Title queries only — no personal data |
| Expo / EAS | App delivery and over-the-air updates | Standard update-manifest requests |
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Requests to TMDB and TVmaze are made by our server and do not carry your identity.
5. Data storage and security
- Data is stored on Supabase infrastructure and protected by row-level security so users can only access their own private data.
- All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
- Passwords are handled and hashed by Supabase Auth; we never see or store your raw password.
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account (in the KeepWatching app) exists. You can delete your account and its associated data at any time, directly in the app:
- Open the app and go to Profile → Edit profile → Delete account.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
- Alternatively, email support@keepwatch.ing from your account email to request deletion.
Data that is deleted: deleting your account permanently and immediately removes your profile (email, username, display name, avatar, bio), your watch history and progress, ratings, watchlist and library, custom lists, social connections (follows and likes), uploaded images, and any imported data. This action cannot be undone.
Data that may be retained: anonymous crash and error reports contain no account identifier and cannot be linked back to you; these may be kept by our error-reporting provider (Sentry) for a limited period (up to 90 days) before automatic deletion. Backups of the database are rotated and fully purged within 30 days.
7. Children
KeepWatching is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR), you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, use the in-app delete-account feature or contact us at the email above.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, communicated in the app.
